Hi. I have participated to the marketplace contest Short name Tech Agency //16440.
One of my name get a “like”. Now, this name is currently in the list of domain names “for sale”. I have not been informed. Is this normal? Will I be notified if this name is sold?If you have any information, I would be happy to learn more about the market place contest.Thanck you.
Magko, I just learned the same thing on one of my names in that contest which is now listed for sale by another creative. So your name is probably listed by another creative, not you. I was just told by the team that even though someone subbed my name a month after that contest, they got it because I didn’t submit it to the marketplace itself. That wasn’t how the marketplace contests were supposed to be running. We were to get a pre-approval in those contests and THEN submit them to the marketplace. I did not get a pre-approval, I asked about it and didn’t hear anything. So another creative subbed the same name to the marketplace itself and it was accepted. Check your marketplace dashboard. If it is not in your dashboard, another creative subbed it.
The name is not in my dashboard. That’s why I’m worried. My name is on sale and not by me. I will not do the market place contest anymore.
Thank you for your answer.
Now, i have the answer.
I don’t think it was a matter of anyone being dishonest. I imagine someone else just thought of the same name and submitted it. I can’t count the number of times I thought of a great (unique, in my mind) name and tried to submit it to a contest… only to find out that it had already been submitted. As they say, great minds think alike!
I have the answer now. This contest was created to give us an idea about our creation. I didn’t know.
Use the blue button to talk to the team about it. Chances are, though, that it won’t change. But the team will look at it. They told me that the only way to prevent another creative from having a name listed for sale is for you to sub your name directly into the marketplace (not a marketplace contest). In my case, my name wasn’t pre-approved so I didn’t sub it because I thought that was how the marketplace worked. Then someone else subbed it later.
OK. Thank you for your reply.
I also had a made up domain name registered from the marketplace tech contest back in mid May.
I reported it, got no response. I waited about 2 weeks and followed up via blue button, was told by Deni she would check with the ‘team’ and get back to me. Never heard from them again.
Disillusioned and discouraged, I gave up on it
I have the same plight. I have entries in a pending contests (not a marketplace contest) that are now in the marketplace for sale.
P.S. What if CH chose my entry as the winning name?
Hi All,
Thank you for revisiting this issue. At this time, Squadhelp Marketplace Contests are not being run. When we were running Marketplace Contests, there was the slight chance that a Creative could submit a domain into a Marketplace Contest, not receive a pre-approval, and anther Creative could submit the domain at a later time directly into the Marketplace and receive approval. After receiving feedback from a few creatives, we have addressed the issue by discontinuing Marketplace Contests.
The “report domain” process is not designed for Marketplace contests. These contests are run by SH team, and SH does not register names without creative’s knowledge and explicit approval. If you had a name registered after submission to a marketplace contest, there are two possibilities:
Possibility 1. It was submitted by another creative to the Marketplace, and was approved. You can check that by going to the domain URL (or Who is). If the domain is for sale on Squadhelp.com and it is not approved in your marketplace dashboard, it means that another creative submitted the name, and received approval for it. There is no further action SH can take, and our support team will not be able to make any exceptions if the domain is already approved for another creative.
Possibility 2. It was registered by someone independently. If you had submitted the same name to a non marketplace contest, we recommend reporting the domain using our Report Domain process for that contest so we can follow up with CH for that contest.
If you had not submitted that name in a different contest, and it is not listed for sale on SH marketplace, there is no further action the SH team can take to assist you with that situation.
We have also written an article that clarifies our rules related to Marketplace submissions:
Our platform receives more than 200,000 domain submissions per month and we would like to use our limited resources in following up on those domains that were registered after submission to contests.
If you still have questions about your specific names that are not addressed by the points above, you can still contact us.
We’d also like to state that after nearly seven years of working with thousands of Contest Holders, tens of thousands of Creatives, and millions of names, we can now say without any doubt that given the large volume, people will think of the exact same name within a short time frame from time to time. This consistently happens from time to time within and outside the platform.

I could be wrong… but I don’t think there is a “winner” in the marketplace contest - per se. Weren’t those created just to give us ideas for names that might be needed for/accepted into the Squadhelp Marketplace?
@MAGKO @tristine24
When it comes to the Marketplace Contests:
- They no longer exist
- Winners were Never selected…these contests were there for you to submit a name that you havent submitted before…so that you could resubmitt them into the actual Marketplace for sale.
- The ratings in these contests were just to give you an idea on whether or not they would be accepted to Marketplace and what type of names SHAdmin was looking for.
I do believe that these contests became very confusing to the creatives and thats why they have been stopped.
Again, the only was to protect your name 100% is to register it yourself with Godaddy or NameSilo and then submit it to the marketplace as an Owned domain. This however can become very costly.
ok. All is clear! i didn’t know! thanck you.
