I thought I’d post this after reading some comments in other threads.
The first quarter of 2019 closed with 351.8 million domain name registrations across all top-level domains (TLDs), an increase of 3.1 million domain name registrations, or 0.9 percent, compared to the fourth quarter of 2018.

For those that are interested.
It goes a long way towards explaining why many of “our” names get taken, with 10 million + domains registered every day it’s going to happen. I’m just surprised it doesn’t happen even more often than it does.
