This is a Civilized Place for Public Discussion

Please treat this discussion forum with the same respect you would any other public place. We, too, are a shared community resource — a place to share skills, knowledge and interests through ongoing conversation.

These are not hard and fast rules, merely aids to the human judgment of our community. Use these guidelines to keep this a clean, well-lighted place for civilized public discussions.

Improve the Discussion

Help us make this a great place for discussion by always working to improve the discussion in some way, however small. If you are not sure your post adds to the conversation, think over what you want to say and try again later.

The topics discussed here matter to us, and we want you to act as if they matter to you, too. Be respectful of the topics and the people discussing them, even if you disagree with some of what is being said.

One way to improve the discussion is by discovering ones that are already happening. Please spend some time browsing the topics here before replying or starting your own, and you’ll have a better chance of meeting others who share your interests.

No Offensive, Hurtful or Disparaging Comments

You may disagree with some members in the forum or on Squadhelp but you can not make comments that might be construed offensive, hurtful or disrespectful by other members. This forum is not the place to make fun of creatives or contest holders.

Specifically, you can not:

  • Make fun of or ridicule a contest holder for choosing a certain name as a winner
  • Call out specific contests or contest holders for their rating pattern (e.g. implying that a specific CH is giving too many low ratings)
  • Make fun of the names that other members might have submitted
  • Attack other users or make comments that can be hurtful or disparaging to other users.
  • Post private messages received from other users or SH team in the public forum.

This is a public forum, and we will not tolerate any comments that are disparaging to other members on this forum, or on the Squadhelp platform.

Be Agreeable, Even When You Disagree

You may wish to respond to something by disagreeing with it. That’s fine. But, remember to criticize ideas, not people. Please avoid:

  • Name-calling.
  • Ad hominem attacks.
  • Responding to a post’s tone instead of its actual content.
  • Knee-jerk contradiction.

Instead, provide reasoned counter-arguments that improve the conversation.

Your Participation Counts

The conversations we have here set the tone for everyone. Help us influence the future of this community by choosing to engage in discussions that make this forum an interesting place to be — and avoiding those that do not.

Our platform provides tools that enable the community to collectively identify the best (and worst) contributions: favorites, bookmarks, likes, flags, replies, edits, and so forth. Use these tools to improve your own experience, and everyone else’s, too.

If You See a Problem, Flag It

Moderators have special authority; they are responsible for this forum. But so are you. With your help, moderators can be community facilitators, not just janitors or police.

When you see bad behavior, don’t reply. It encourages the bad behavior by acknowledging it, consumes your energy, and wastes everyone’s time. Just flag it. If enough flags accrue, action will be taken, either automatically or by moderator intervention.

In order to maintain our community, moderators reserve the right to remove any content and any user account for any reason at any time. Moderators do not preview new posts in any way; the moderators and site operators take no responsibility for any content posted by the community.

No Accusations

Directly or indirectly implying that a specific member might be “cheating” or “gaming” the system is not allowed in the forum. We are committed to making Squadhelp a fair and transparent platform for everyone. However the forum is not the the right place to bring up issues or concerns related to specific creatives or contest holders. If you are concerned that a creative or a contest holder might be involved in a foul play, please write to us directly at so that we can investigate the issue. All users have access to this forum, and we can not allow discussions where the users are accused of any wrongdoing, especially when all the facts are not clear. To be clear, following Posts are not allowed in discussion forum:

  • Posts suggesting that domains might have been registered by a CH from a contest
  • Posts that imply a specific CH or contestant is involved in a foul play
  • Posts that question the legitimacy of winners in a contest

Any such posts will likely lead to revocation of messaging privileges or account suspension.

Discussions related to Domain Registration

If your domain name has been registered after submission to a naming contest, please read our policy about how we handle domain registrations. You can not bring up individual examples of domain registration in the forum. Instead, please use this process to report a domain registration. Posts of the following types, which directly or indirectly refer to any domain registration incidents are not allowed in the forum:

  • Posts that mention that your name was registered in a specific contest
  • Posts that indirectly mention domain registration issues. For example, “One of my name was taken in a recent contest”.
  • Posts that imply that a CH has registered a domain name.

These issues need to be reported directly to Squadhelp team for investigation. Any such forum posts will likely lead to revocation of messaging privileges or account suspension. The reason for this strict policy is because this Forum is also accessible to Contest Holders.

No Specific Incidents, People, Names or Contests

The forum is designed to encourage constructive dialog about SH policies, questions or feedback. You are not allowed to share or discuss any specific incidents, people, contests or names (submitted to contests or domain marketplace). Our goal is to maintain a respectable environment in our discussion forum, and any issues that apply to your specific situation must be discussed directly (and privately) with SH support team. Posts of the following types are not allowed in the discussion forum:

  • Posts that call out or mention a specific contest or contest holder
  • Posts that mention a specific name (submitted to a contest, listed in marketplace, rejected from marketplace etc)
  • Posts sharing a communication from SH that was intended only for you (e.g. policy violation, pricing decision for marketplace etc).
  • Posts that mention any other companies that might be considered Squadhelp’s competitors.
  • Posts that discuss the ratings you might have received for your names, the acceptance or rejection of your names in domain marketplace, winners that might be selected in certain contests, the rating styles of certain contest holders etc.

You are allowed to call out specific names or logos as long as the reason to include them is to congratulate the creator of those names or logos.

No Spamming or Trolling

A Troll is a person who sows discord by posting inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages with the deliberate intent of provoking other creatives into an emotional response. Specifically, following activities are prohibited:

  • Excessively posting the same type of comment multiple times, or across multiple threads
  • Creating threads for the sole purpose of causing unrest on the forum
  • Causing disturbances in forum threads, such as picking fights, making off topic posts that ruin the thread, insulting other posters
  • Making non-constructive posts (except in Off-Topic category)

No Rumor Mongering

Rumor threads and posts which are based off no actual facts and are designed to generate undue stress on other members are not allowed. These are detrimental to the well being and spirit of the Squadhelp Community, and can create undue panic among other members.

Always Be Civil

Nothing sabotages a healthy conversation like rudeness:

  • Be civil. Don’t post anything that a reasonable person would consider offensive, abusive, or hate speech.
  • Keep it clean. Don’t post anything obscene or sexually explicit.
  • Respect each other. Don’t harass or grief anyone, impersonate people, or expose their private information.
  • Respect our forum. Don’t post spam or otherwise vandalize the forum.

These are not concrete terms with precise definitions — avoid even the appearance of any of these things. If you’re unsure, ask yourself how you would feel if you were on the receiving end of your post.

This is a public forum, and search engines index these discussions. Keep the language, links, and images safe for family and friends.

Keep It Tidy

Make the effort to put things in the right place, so that we can spend more time discussing and less cleaning up. So:

  • Don’t start a topic in the wrong category.
  • Don’t cross-post the same thing in multiple topics.
  • Don’t post no-content replies.
  • Don’t divert a topic by changing it midstream.
  • Don’t sign your posts — every post has your profile information attached to it.

Rather than posting “+1” or “Agreed”, use the Like button. Rather than taking an existing topic in a radically different direction, use Reply as a Linked Topic.

Post Only Your Own Stuff

You may not post anything digital that belongs to someone else without permission. You may not post descriptions of, links to, or methods for stealing someone’s intellectual property (software, video, audio, images), or for breaking any other law.
